Le gala de l'inauguration du O.E.R. fut un événement mémorable
en 1891
David N.Gill, qui gravit les échelons depuis commis
junior en 1904 jusqu'à
Gérant Général et Directeur de l'O.E.R, et continua
comme Gérant Général de la O.T.C. quand la ville
prit le contrôle en 1948.
En bas : File de tramways pour le voyage inaugural de l'O.E.R
en 1891.
La scène est la rue Wellington à la tête
de Metcalfe.
En haut : Train des fameux vieux tramways ouverts, insurpassables
pour
transporter des foules, mais se tenir aux montants n'était de tout
repos
pour les passagers et les chefs de train. En regardant de plus près,
on discerne plusieurs visages familier sur le premier tramway, dont
Frank Leamy, A. A. Dion, Supt. J. E.
Hutchison, Charles Serim et le Dr. J.F.Kidd.
Avec une loupe, Tom Ahearn and W. Y. Soper
sont visibles
dans l'intervalle entre les deux premiers trams.

from Junior Clerk in 1904 to
General Manager and Director of the O.E.R., and continued
as
General Manager of the O.T.C. when the city took over in
1948.

Top: Trailer train of the
famous old open jobs, unsurpassed for
the handling of crowds, but clinging to the posts was tricky
businees for passengers and conductors. Close inspection shows
many familiar faces on the front car, including Frank Leamy,
A. A. Dion, Supt. J. E. Hutchison, Charles
Serim and Dr. J.F.Kidd.
Under a magnifying glass, Tom Ahearn and W. Y. Soper
show
up in the gap between the first two cars.
